A good sniff and a good glance will usually let you know what state the food is in.dudarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01089514960452914466noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5393731997758632945.post-59323728620083529232011-10-18T16:57:06.479+01:002011-10-18T16:57:06.479+01:00There's also a major problem with best before/...There's also a major problem with best before/use by dates that are more to do with covering the supermarkets arse than being informative. I'll often eat food past its use by date given that it doesn't smell gone off or look like it's about to turn but I know so many people who won't even open the packet to see if food is alright before throwing it out if it's even a day over the date.Stefhttp://foodblog.stefanovozza.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5393731997758632945.post-81481309847854226762011-10-16T22:41:11.436+01:002011-10-16T22:41:11.436+01:00Great post Joanne! All those 'deals' in supermarkets are more about reducing their own waste bills than passing on value to the consumer I think.Karen O'Connellhttp://followthefoodlink.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5393731997758632945.post-56056950520671303482011-10-16T20:44:48.010+01:002011-10-16T20:44:48.010+01:00The statistics are staggering. €125 million? Well having four kids helps too, considering they are all growing little savages. I would hope that with all this recession talk that most people would be doing a savvier weekly shop and wasting less. Great to see your post.
