Academic achievement was so important to her, but she passed away just before I graduated with my B.Sc. On the day I graduated with my Ph.D. I was thinking of her.

But her influence didn't extend to just schoolwork. I also think she was the origin of my interest in baking.dudarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01089514960452914466noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5393731997758632945.post-54596836227646090572011-11-30T21:44:50.752+00:002011-11-30T21:44:50.752+00:00I really enjoyed reading this post, Joanne. As a child I loved such gatherings, quite simply for all the lovely baked goodies like you mentioned :)Nessa Robinshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13103337254538129234noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5393731997758632945.post-53684056688483247192011-11-29T07:54:15.082+00:002011-11-29T07:54:15.082+00:00What a great memory piece Joanne. That really comes in handy around here too :0) The apple tart sounds like it was a winner for sure and I also have (odd) memories of the translucent boiled onions. Can't say I ever wanted to try them either!WiseMónahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12560896411311415348noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5393731997758632945.post-81226994377006935122011-11-28T23:05:15.009+00:002011-11-28T23:05:15.009+00:00What a beautiful memory inducing post, in our hous...What a beautiful memory inducing post, in our house it was the Irish Indo that was scoured for the death notices though!CarolineOhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08713793938234542809noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5393731997758632945.post-84149157155191031992011-11-28T21:59:10.698+00:002011-11-28T21:59:10.698+00:00What a lovely post, reminds me of my own Granny Ha...What a lovely post, reminds me of my own Granny Hayden slicing the apples directly onto the pastry lined tart tin- the only difference was 5 whole cloves tucked away inside - fierce posh she was!
