2017 wine tastings

Wine tastings are a wonderful way to sample and compare many different wines all at once. Professionals and wine enthusiasts can develop their knowledge of the market and offerings, while wine fans can try out new wines and regions. Professional wine events will often feature masterclasses and private tasting sessions, but the doors are usually opened to the public later in the day. For a small entrance fee, wine fans get get to talk to experts, meet winemakers and enjoy some good wines.

If you know of a wine event taking place in 2017, please get in touch so that I can add it to this listings page.

November 22nd - Cork - California tasting

Many of us have long associated California wines with mass-market brands and with overly sweet, overly oaked wines and for may year, many people were unaware of the state's ability to produce some very fine wines. Then came the film Sideways, with wine-anorak and Pinot-obsessed Miles opening up our eyes to the existence of boutique or craft wineries all along the Central Coast. California is a fascinating wine region. Although midsummer temperatures are blisteringly hot, there are mitigated by cooling fogs that arise off the Pacific. This fog delays ripening and allows really interesting flavours and structure to develop.
L'Atitude 51, in association with California Wine, are delighted to host a presentation and tasting of a selection of wines from some of the more interesting winemakers that reflect the diversity of California wines. Canapés to match will be provided by the L'Atitude 51 kitchen.
Tickets cost €18. Spaces are limited so booking is essential.
