2017 wine tastings

Wine tastings are a wonderful way to sample and compare many different wines all at once. Professionals and wine enthusiasts can develop their knowledge of the market and offerings, while wine fans can try out new wines and regions. Professional wine events will often feature masterclasses and private tasting sessions, but the doors are usually opened to the public later in the day. For a small entrance fee, wine fans get get to talk to experts, meet winemakers and enjoy some good wines.

April 25th - Dublin - Italian wine tasting

Join Cavern Baggot Street for a beautiful Italian wine tasting night with Ettore Maggi from the exclusive Bellavista & Petra wineries. Bellavista is the top producer of Franciacorta, a prestigious sparkling wine from Lombardy, the Champagne of Italy. Petra, located in the tiny village of Suvereto, where many of the best Tuscan wines are from, has been producing an unbelievable portfolio of red wines which will perfectly accompany the menu for the night.

April 25th - Dun Laoghaire - Spain outside the box

As part of Spanish Wine Week, Rafael Salazar from Vinostito and winemaker Dani Landi from Mentrida, Madrid will host a tasting at 64 Wine, Dun Laoghaire. Enjoy a range of wines from alternative regions in Spain, together with Landi's wines. A full meal of innovative Irish tapas will also be served.

April 26th - Cork - Spanish natural and organic wines

In conjunction with Spanish Wine Week and Wines of Spain, L'Atitude 51 is delighted to host a tasting with Rafael Salazar of Vinostito Wines, that will focus on the hot topic of natural and organic wines. In a country where tradition is tantamount, Spain's 4,000 year old wine industry is finding itself in the centre of the global organic movement. Rafael will give a presentation and lead a tasting of wines from organic to biodynamic to full-on natural, and as usual, the L'Atitude kitchen will prepare some tasty tapas to match.

April 26th - Dublin - Flamenco with Tio Pepe and Iberian ham

As part of Spanish Wine Week, Instituto Cervantes and sherry expert Paddy Murphy will host an evening of Flamenco dancing with Tio Pepe sherry and fine Iberian ham.

April 26th - Dublin - Rioja tapas trail with

As part of Spanish Wine Week, invite you to join them for a Rioja tapas trail across three different venues and two wines. The wines will become more complex as the evening progresses, starting with a white wine and Crianza, before finishing with a Gran Reserva.

April 27th - Dublin - Spanish spring roast at ely

As part of Spanish Wine Week, enjoy three courses paired with five magnificent Spanish wines at ely, featuring a loin and shoulder of lamb as the centrepiece of the menu, cod fishcake with blood orange, fennel and langoustine oil to start and a salted caramel doughnut with vanilla ice cream and PX sherry to finish.

As part of Spanish Wine Week, join for a Rias Baixas tapas trail that will visit three different venues (Klaw, Citron and Picket) and taste 2 different wines with tapas in each venues. The wines will become more complex as the trail progresses, so get ready!

April 28th - Howth - Spanish wine tasting at The Winehouse

As part of Spanish Wine Week, join The Winehouse in Howth for a tasting of 6 wines from award winning vineyards in Rioja, Rias Baixas, Ribera del Duero and Terra Alta. A 20% will also be available for promoted wines.

April 28th - Dublin - Mackenway wine tasting

April 29th - Dalkey - Paella and wine at The Grapevine

As part of Spanish Wine Week, join The Grapevine in Dalkey between 12.00 - 17.00 for some paella prepared by Spanish cook Jaime with a glass of Spanish wine.

May 3rd - Athlone - Dinner with Lingenfelder Estate

O'Briens Athlone are delighted to welcome Georg Lingenfelder from Lingenfelder Estate in Pfalz, Germany, for a fantastic evening of wine and food in the wonderful La Provence restaurant in the Sheraton Hotel, Athlone. La Provence's head chef Eoin O'Neill and Georg have put together a three course menu to match perfectly with the wines from Lingenfelder. This is a great opportunity to experiment with their amazing Bird Label Riesling and others such as Hare Label. Gew├╝rztraminer, Scheurebe Cabinet and Dornfelder.

May 3rd - Dublin - An evening with Mario Zanusso from I Clivi

Green Man Wines are delighted to welcome Mario Zanusso from I Clivi, an outstanding small estate in Friuli. The estate has two vineyards Colli Orientali del Friuli and Collio,  both very close to the border with Slovenia in far north east Italy. The wines are natural but with clean winemaking focusing on indigenous varieties only that deliver mineral, varietally distinct white wines and a delicious red.

May 4th - Limerick - O'Briens Spring Wine Fair

Join O'Briens Wines at the Clayton hotel for their very first Limerick Wine Fair. This evening of wine tasting will offer the change to meet over 25 of their talented winemakers who will travel to Limerick to present their incredible wines, including wines from New Zealand, France, Spain, USA and Italy. Proceeds are in aid of O'Briens' charity partner Milford Care Centre.

May 5th &  6th - Dublin - O'Briens Spring Wine Fair

Join O'Briens in The Print Works Dublin Castle for a fantastic weekend of wine tasting and the chance to meet over 50 talented winemakers who will travel to Dublin to present over 200 of their incredible wines. Australia, New Zealand, France, Chile, Greece, Spain, the USA and Italy are just some of the countries which will be represented. Proceeds from the tickets will be in aid of Cancer Clinical Research Trust and Cystic Fibrosis Ireland.

May 9th - Dublin - Giro d'Italia tasting and pop-up dinner

Green Man Wines brings together 4 incredible Italian wineries from Trentino to Puglia, along with authentic, delicious food provided by a pop-up from Assassination Custard. Elena Pantaloon (Azienda La Stoppa, Emilia-Romagna), Pasquale Petera (Fatalone, Puglia), Theo Foradori (Foradori, Trentino) and & Giula Zanatelli (Ampeleia, Tuscany) will be on hand to showcase their wines at a walkaround tasting before sitting down to a long table 5 course dinner prepared by Ken & Gwen from Assassination Custard (who were recently listed in the Top 100 restaurants in Ireland by both the Irish Times and The Sunday Times). A selection of wines will accompany each course and will be introduced by the winemakers.

May 11th - Belfast - Olivier Leflaive Burgundy dinner at James Street South

JN Wine are delighted to host a wine dinner with Bastien Gautheron, commercial director at Olivier Leflaive. As history dictates, the Leflaive family have always been the esteemed owners of hectares of Burgundy vines. 17 generations on, Olivier Leflaive continues to produce some of the most sought after Burgundies in the world.

May 11th - Cork - 6 winemakers under 1 roof

Last years "6 winemakers under 1 roof" managed to turn into 8 winemakers under 1 roof, plus one cidermaker for good measure! L'Atitude 51 are delighted to once again host this event in association with Le Caveau, Kilkenny. A number of winemakers will travel from France, Italy, Spain and beyond to present their personal favourites, and the L'Atitude kitchen will provide canapes to match.

May 17th - Dublin - Cava & wine night with Codorniu Raventos

Beaufield Mews is delighted to welcome Bruno Colomer, head wine maker from Codorniu Raventos for an exclusive evening of wines and delicious foods. Codorniu is the world's oldest and second-largest producer of bottle-fermented cava, dating back as far as 1551 in Catalonia, Spain. Set in the Beaufield Mews walled, garden and served alongside a rage of delicious tapas to start, followed by a gourmet barbecue and desserts, Bruno will talk you through the wines and answer your questions.

May 31st - Dublin - Pinot Noir pairing with Riedel

The Conrad Hotel, Dublin, is bringing together two experts of the wine world for a unique evening in their Coburg Brasserie. John Hinckley, a representative of leading wine glass producer Riedel, will come together with an exceptional winemaker from New Zealand, Larry McKenna. From Escarpment Winery, Larry has established himself as a leading winemaker in New Zealand and has played an integral role in helping to shape the development of Pinot Noir in the region. Enjoy a 5 course meal, paired with a handpicked selection of Pinot Noir.
