2017 wine tastings

Wine tastings are a wonderful way to sample and compare many different wines all at once. Professionals and wine enthusiasts can develop their knowledge of the market and offerings, while wine fans can try out new wines and regions. Professional wine events will often feature masterclasses and private tasting sessions, but the doors are usually opened to the public later in the day. For a small entrance fee, wine fans get get to talk to experts, meet winemakers and enjoy some good wines.

March 23rd - Dublin - New wave Chilean wine tasting

New wave Chilean wines have just hit the shelves at Searsons. Organic, biodynamic, high altitude wines of limited availability are in stock. Join Searsons in the shop, where Anthony Tindal will take you through a tasting of these exciting new Chilean wines.

March 24th - Fermanagh - Belle Isle wine dinner with Quinta de la Rosa

Belle Isle Estate, in conjunction with James Nicholson Wine Merchant, invites you to an exclusive wine dinner. A superb menu has been carefully created to perfectly complement a superb selection of wines from the Quinta de la Rosa vineyard from Portugal's Douro region. Sophia Bergqvist, from the owning family, will join guests on the evening to talk about the history of Quinta de la Rosa and guide guests through the selection of wines and ports.

March 28th - Dublin - Burgundy Tasting with Charles Derain

Join Burgundy fan Charles Derain, former sommelier at Restaurant Patrick Guildbaud, now wine maker at Les Deux Cols and owner of Nomad Wine Importers as he explores one of his greatest vinous passions. Enjoy a stellar line up of Burgundies stretching from the Maconnais to Chablis and plenty in-between.

March 29th - Dublin - Blind tasting: why it's becoming more and more difficult

The final instalment in the 4 part wine series from Searsons will feature 8 wines tasted blind, chosen to illustrate the closing gap between new and old world production areas. Discussion will focus on the winemaking and viticultural progress around the globe that had led to wine than can delight, confuse and surprise even the most knowledgeable taster.

March 30th - Dublin - Gosset champagne tasting

Experience a once in a lifetime event at Cavern Baggot Street where you will taste the outstanding portfolio of the oldest wine house in Champagne, Gosset. Join Bertrand from Gosset for a guided tasting and explanation of their amazing champagnes. An exclusive 5 course tasting menu has been designed by Cavern's chef for this special event.
Cavern are running a special offer, with two tickets for €99, giving a saving of €21.

April 25th - Dublin - Italian wine tasting

Join Cavern Baggot Street for a beautiful Italian wine tasting night with Ettore Maggi from the exclusive Bellavista & Petra wineries. Bellavista is the top producer of Franciacorta, a prestigious sparkling wine from Lombardy, the Champagne of Italy. Petra, located in the tiny village of Suvereto, where many of the best Tuscan wines are from, has been producing an unbelievable portfolio of red wines which will perfectly accompany the menu for the night.

April 26th - Cork - Spanish natural and organic wines

In conjunction with Spanish Wine Week and Wines of Spain, L'Atitude 51 is delighted to host a tasting with Rafael Salazar of Vinostito Wines, that will focus on the hot topic of natural and organic wines. In a country where tradition is tantamount, Spain's 4,000 year old wine industry is finding itself in the centre of the global organic movement. Rafael will give a presentation and lead a tasting of wines from organic to biodynamic to full-on natural, and as usual, the L'Atitude kitchen will prepare some tasty tapas to match.

May 11th - Cork - 6 winemakers under 1 roof

Last years "6 winemakers under 1 roof" managed to turn into 8 winemakers under 1 roof, plus one cidermaker for good measure! L'Atitude 51 are delighted to once again host this event in association with Le Caveau, Kilkenny. A number of winemakers will travel from France, Italy, Spain and beyond to present their personal favourites, and the L'Atitude kitchen will provide canapes to match.

November 10th & 11th - Dublin - O'Briens Winter Wine Fair
