My name is Joanne and I live in Dublin, Ireland.
I grew up in rural Cork in the Muskerry Gaeltacht (Gaeltacht Mhuscraí), where I learnt the basics of farmhouse cooking and baking from my mother and grandmothers. Not to be outdone, my father made sure that his tomboy daughter knew how to wire a house, tile a wall and strip an engine.
I suppose the tomboy side won out as I studied Physics at university. After 9 years at University College Cork, I left with a Ph.D. and a strong desire to move away from the academic life. I now work for a leading management consultancy where I have been fortunate to work with a wide range of people and clients. Every work day brings new challenges, keeping me busy and on my toes.
Food has always been an important part of my life. In recent years, I've also become very interested in wine and spirits, and I have completed the WSET Level 2 certificate. This blog is a diary of my food and drink adventures in Dublin, in Ireland and even beyond. My guiding ethos is honesty above all else, and I hope you enjoy.
